Very few forests mainly green belts. You would be better off taking a walk in the Gatineau Hills. But I have never seen any wild roses growing in the "Ottawa wilds".

If you saw some roses, they most-likely grew from a seed that drifted from a rose bush in somebody's yard. As for your tropical plants question, ditto...
