Pirates as in buccaneers, and scurvy-infested criminals. Any good games?

Monkey island series

The Mokey Island series on the PC (Escape from Monkey island is on the PS2 but it is a very difficult game and not quite as funny as the others).
Sid Meier's Pirates- haven't played it.
The Pirates of the carribean game- haven't played it.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker on the Gamecube isn't just about pirates but it's a superb adventure game.
Metroid Prime on the Gamecube features SPACE Pirates but they're not the type of pirates you're looking for.

The only one I have played is Sid Meier's "Pirates! Live the Life"
It's fairly enjoyable - pretty easy to play - and is only &19.95 now.
I was disappointed that the towns were not full 3D like in a good RPG, but the boats on the ocean part worked fairly well.
My main complaint was that the graphics were too simplified and primitive. If they could have made it as detailed as, say Morrowind, then I would have perked up.

PC: sid mayers pirates its pretty fun you take over other pirate ships and you do the whole trade routes thing out in the caribbean you dual other well known pirates like blackbeard and stuff.
