We can never really know, since no one has been irrevocably died and come back to tell us.
Those of us who's faith teaches about an afterlife offer a variety of scenarios, but we still don't know.
If there is no afterlife, then the person who answers that it is a feeling of ease must have it wrong. If we had no existance after death, then there would be no feeling at all. Not even an awareness of an absence of feeling.
I describe it as like turning a television off ... from the inside.

Nothing other than gradual decomposition of the living matters inside the body. When one dies, bacteria take hold of the body cells, they start their work, one the the most needed, to keep on the cycle of life on earth,to split up the matter of the body and return the elements to the nature.I think one does not feel the Death,as the nervous system fails to transmit signals.

Very relaxed. Like going into a deep sleep, except that you'll never wake up. The final rest.
Afterwards doesn't matter, since you'll never know.
My daughter may do with my body what she wants, whatever makes HER feel best. That will be the only thing that matters at that point.
Bury me, burn me, throw me in the garbage (as long as the authorities don't find out about it since they have their own axes to grind.)

Let me preface this with the fact that I am a Christian so that you see the conundrum here. I believe that a person moves to another plane of existence. Heaven? An alternate reality? Another life? I don't know, but I don't believe they just cease to exist. See the dilemma here?

Peace and happiness, or pain and fear. Those are the only choices. Pick one, and live up (or down) to the goal.
