The most harmful thing in Chinese food, served in restaurants is MSG, and that's mostly a lot of salt. You can always ask your food to be cooked without MSG. Most places will be glad to do that for you. If they don't, don't eat there. It means they don't care about customer service.
Think about this: Almost 2 billion Chinese people eat Chinese food. They have babies too, or there wouldn't be that many Chinese people.

I am pregnant too and have researched this extensively (as I love Chinese food too!) and the MSG doesn't affect the baby. It just intensifies the nausea and headaches that you probably already have in your first trimester. I say it's better to avoid MSG. Be careful though, a lot of the side orders are pre-made and the MSG cannot be taken out.

I've been surfing the internet more than three hours today looking for answers to the same question, but I haven't found any interesting debate like this. It's pretty worth enough for me.

Yeah i'd just ask if they use MSG then ask if they can leave it out of your food. It can cause migraines, which some pregnant women get more frequently.

Make sure the food is not prepared with MSG or other potentially harmful chemicals. Also read up on foods you should and should not have during pregnancy. A lot of time they are going to be your favorites :(

Avoid shellfish, anything raw/undercooked and eating too much fish while pregnant. Fish contain mercury which can be extremely harmful to the development of your baby, especially during your first trimester.

Sure, as long as it is cooked. Watch out for MSG, it can cause headaches and swelling. Just go to a good restaurant and ask them if they use it.
