Many people tell me that high school physics is really hard and that even the smart people fail the class. I really dont think its that hard I already know the basics but I'm just curious.

A lot of it is just applications of the math that you are learning or have been learning in math class.

I took AP physics B in sophomore year

In my opinion, it was the easiest hard class i took =). I got a 5 on the exam with only like 10-15 hours of independant study throughout the year. I read everything that the teacher told me to, did only about half the homework assignments and hardly paid attension in class. But i had a nice teacher.

It's easy for some people and hard for other people.

Think about what you have been told. If even the smart people fail, then practically everybody gets a grade of F. Whoever told you that is exaggerating. EVERY class has at least a few people getting an A, unless the teacher is terribly unfair.

If you did well in math and/or chemistry, you probably don't have to worry about it.

Well now that kind of depends.

Smart people can fail because they are not motivated to learn a subject.

A good teacher will find ways to motivate your interest, and help you to energize your smarts. S/he will also not let you slide through because you've "got more important thangs to do."

One measure of how well you'll do might be: how comfortable are you with simple algebra? If you're OK with that, you'll probably be fine.

Nah. High school physics is easy. You do have to do a little bit of thinking for the problems depending on the level of rigor that your course requires, but generally it's quite easy.

It wasn't hard for me. It really depends on the individual. I find subjects that interest me are never hard. Those that bore me are always hard.
