On time.... No, wait. Stephen Hawking already did that one. How about on deadline.

Whatever floats your boat. If you have an idea, no matter how obscure it is, work with it. Think of the idea as a seed and the more information and creativity (water, that is) that you provide, the more it will grow into a book (plant). Try not to provide too much or too little information; just enough that will satisfy the reviewer. I will provide a link in this post for you to check out. It's pretty cool.

If it requires some research, then do the research (since this is something you WANT to do, the research aspect should be enjoyable....tedious but enjoyable). One of my future novels will take place during World War Two and I will have to do a LOT of research just for writing that novel. Historical fiction authors frequent libraries and such just to find the material for their books; they can't make stuff up.

Why don't you look back on your childhood to see if there is anything worth writing about? Maybe a special event or your high school graduation, perhaps. Or maybe do some research of your family tree; you're bound to find stuff there (I found out that one of my great-uncles was a grade-B prizefighter).

Keep your chin up and realize that the sky is the limit. The best thing about creative writing is that there ARE NO LIMITS to what the imagination holds.

P.S. It's spelled A-U-T-H-O-R.

If it's non-fiction, try to find something that interests you and will, hopefully, interest your readers. If it's fiction, take examples from your own life and experiences. Decide if you're interested in some formulaic "best-seller" model, or something fresh and new. I think the main thing, though, is that you keep on tapping away at the keyboard.

You might spin a tale about a NAZI baker in 1930's Deutschland, who makes cookies and pretzels in the shape of a swastika.

When you look in the mirror, who do you see? A democract, a woman, a cook, an American? First you need your prespective, then every subject seems interesting to write about. Good luck.

Write a book about why so many people spend hours answering stupid questions on yahoo.com

You will make millions... and probably get to be on Oprah or Dr. Phil.

If you want to be a writer, the first thing you should learn to do is spell (unless you weren't going for "author" in your screen name).

Write about what you know.

Write about what you know best - whether it's life on the streets, high school, cheating bf's or whatever.
