Despite what some people here say, Chicago is a great place for the field you're in. Major corporations are moving their headquarters here all the time, and Chicago, as you probably know, is a major financial hub. While I don't have any specific leads, you can go online and check out the Chicago Tribune website for jobs. In addition, check the Chicago Reader website as well. The Reader is a free weekly newspaper but they have a decent listing of jobs.
As for the best time of year to move here, try early spring or the beginning of fall. Summer is too darn hot to try moving stuff up five flights of stairs, and winter... well, I don't think I have to say much. But the key to finding a job hear is to beat the college students who are now pouring in to Chicago straight from school. I'd start sending resumes out now. There may be a few students on internships who are heading back to school, leaving openings for real, full-time workers.

It has been my experience that most companies will hire in the Spring. Although the field you are in may hire in Jan. if you are qualified in tax preparation. Winters in Chicago are brutally cold. It's not the best time to move then, but if you find a good job go for it. Congrats on the marriage and I hope you have a wonderful future.

You couldn't pay me enough to live in Chicago. Well, $350,000 per year might change my mind.
Good luck and may you have a long and blessed marriage. If you make God the center of your marriage, you will be together in your old age and until "death do you part".

About April. Spring is a good time for hiring, best time for weather - and it is the start of baseball season.
