whooo said soo ... they do believe Israel should exist ..but in two conditions
1-in the dreams of the Zionists
or
2- anywhere else than their lands

why do not you take a state of your 51 states which is much more biger than Israel now & give it to them ?

why is it accepted that they make the palistinian refugees ? do not tell me its their land ..jews were in that land before ..but other jews from all over the world travelled & settled there claiming its their land & pushed away the originals ?why the world accepted this from the start ? guess wat /israel did not ask the world their openion .

well you are not american ..do not give them a state then ---give them wales !!they might be happy ...

ladymoonlight am totally with you .. no i have not been to wales although one day i'll certainly visit it. but the same thing you said,,, before you the palestinians have said . zionists first wanted to have their state in venzuella before palestine & am mentioning this to assure you that jews want their own state wherever it is .then they claimed palestine as their lands bcz they can advertise the "chosen ones" theory .Palestine is also not big enough & jews used to live there too .when zionists came to the region they killed , murdered the citizens & forced so many of them to leave .it has stolen lands to claim it for jews .
am sorry that you got sad i was talking sarcastly .... i do not believe that one religion should make her own state .why would jews ask for a state while they are ordinary people from all over the world .Here in lebanon we have 18 religion ,& we are proud of that ,& even we have jews.YES AM AGAINST THE ISRAEL STATE & DO NOT COMPROHEND THEIR REASONS .now why muslims do not want jews to have their state ?jews are found every where & i do not believe that anyone is burging them to their rights .you see from them .politiciens ,economists ,biologists ,,,,etc etc ,, & not in israel ..so why they want a state ..jewish is a religion ,islam is a religion , christianity is a religion & none should have their own states .

Get it right buddy, far more than half of the free world believes Israel has no right to exist.

Palestinians were never accused of any crime, but because they were not Jewish, they were evicted from their homeland and forced to move elsewhere while shiploads of wealthy Jews from Europe started mulling around for good real estate!!!!

It will never be right!!! How on earth can you justify making an entire people refugees?

The only reason it has lasted this long is because Israel controls and OWNS the any debate on the issue.

Two excellent points made by two respondents, that the Palestinian people were virtaully robbed of their homeland in 1948, when Israel decided to exist, and since then have been kept in little more than concentration camps, doing the work of slaves, in similar conditions to the blacks in the apartheid era of South Africa. Yes, if the Israeli Jews would just clear of to oh-so friendly America, and let the local arabs have their country back, we would have peace. Or you can keep on killiing people, in the name of your god, it's your choice, Christians!

While abbadon has by far the most complete answer which took WAY too much time to type and read. a simpler answer is that israel's jewish citizens/residents muscled their way back into the Holy Land after being persecuted in Europe in the Nazi era and reclaimed the land their religious ancestry held thousands of years ago. palestinians didn't like giving up where they had lived for many years and are constanly fighting to get that land back. israel says they deserve that land for the way they had been treated thousands of years earlier in Egypt, and earlier that century in europe

That's not as easy a question to answer as you would think, and (as you have all ready seen) no one can answer it without some bit of bias or prejudice.

The land that makes up Israel today was home to many different groups of people, including the ancestors of the Israelites and Palestinians: they lived, married, fought, conquered and died together for hundreds of years, brothers in life and death. During this time the Israelites were considered odd because of the pantheon of gods worshipped in that area at the time, they only worshipped one. Yaweh was their god for he created them for his own use and pleasure. He asked nothing of them but that they worship no other god but him and obeyed him completely. From them he choose one man, Abraham, from whom he would create a great nation that would worship him and him alone. The other people in this area found that strange, but the rule at the time was "don't bother me and I won't bother you" and there was peace.

Now, this land was also conquered by various peoples through out history; the Persians, the Egyptians, the Hitties, the Greeks, the Persians again, the Babylonians, the Romans, the Ottomans, the Turks, the Brits, the list is endless. And with each conquering nations came an up-rooting of the local populous and relocation of them through out the empire while groups up-rooted from else where were relocated in Israel; this process, theoretically, ensured the newly conquered lands would not unite under a common similarity and overthrow their rulers.

Now, occastionally the Israelites or Palestinians would get the upper hand, reclaim their territory and run the show for a while; but as some point someone would **** up and they nation would be conquered by an outside force again. It's a vicious cycle.

Now, it was some time during the Ottoman empire, I believe, that the local Palestinian populous managed to rally together and declare a good chunk of earth theirs and being Muslim in a now Muslim nation, they were allowed by the ruling class to do this so long as they paid taxes. What ever Jewish population was still in this area at that time was given Jerusalem, their holy city, and a few other smaller cities, but they were subject to the Palestinians.

Fastforward a few hundred years, we get the Brits and French and Dutch and Spanish trying to conquer the world. They are all Christian, the sister religion of Judeoism, and decide to help their religious-sibbling via the Crusades and a lot of conquering, death and Inquisitions. So the Christians take over the Holy Land and let their Jewish sisters hang around and pay them tribute.

Fastforward again to World War II. The Jews are amoung many nationless people now, for the Holy Land as been "reclaimed" by the Muslim populous of the Middle East, and there are good chunks of them in Italy, England, Germany, Spain, Hungary, Austria, Slovacia, etc, decendants of those first moves from ancient conquerings. And, hey, who better than people with no homeland, no nationality, to use as scapegoats when your economy sucks?! Enter Hitler and his "blame other people" mentality for solving German's post World War One economic depression, where he used stereotypes and mistranslations of the Bible and Torah to validate the persecution of the Jews. He also uses method to persecute other groups, the gypsies, people of non-Anglo Saxon decent, homosexuals, and even catholics! (Hitler was Prodistant, I believe).

Thus the Holocaust, and because most of the civilized world turn the other way when refuges and governments begged for help, come the end of the war the Allied Nations need to come up with a way to make up for the sins. Various promises and deals were made, including the creations of a Jewish nation, thus making the Jews a people with a country and subject to the Geneva Convention and various UN legislation that are only applied to people with a nationality. (Yes, if you do not have a country of origin, the basic human rights promised under the UN Constitution do not apply to you.)

Now, here's the gag! The portion of the Middle East that was carved out to become Israel was choosen because it contained many sites that were of great historical and religious importance for the Jews. Two problems quickly arose. First off, the land choose for great reasons was all ready "owned" and part of a nation called Palestine, a country that had done its best to stay out of the war. Also, though of great historical and religious importance to the Jews and Christians, it was also of great importance to the Muslims.

Now, how can one piece of earth be so important to so many people? Because, weither people like to admite it or not, Islam, Christianity and Judeism are sister-religions. Jews are the decendents of Issac and the Muslims are decendants of Ishmal, both sons of Abraham to whom Yaweh promised a great nation via any children he had. Christians follow the teachings of Jesus, a Jewish rabbi who believed in updating the old ways to ensure the survival of the faith because the whole "eye for an eye" thing just left people blind and angry.

So, the Muslim nations are pissed because they had holy land taken from them because of a war they were not involved in; The Israelies are pissed because this was land given to them by their god AND the governments of the world and no one is letting them play ball; and some Christians groups are pissed because the Holy Land is as much theres as the Jews and no one is letting them fight for it while other Christians are pissed because no one is converting to the "true path". No one is really sure what they want done, but they do know if they don't get what they want then NO ONE is getting anything.

PLEASE NOTE, though, that these are the RATICAL elements of all three faiths. These are the Fundalmentalist, the ones that refuse to see the written texts in a historical as well as spiritual context, to see that the world has advanced beyond the point of nomadic wonderings, slave rowed gallies and no running water. Most Muslims, most Jews and most Christians think this entire thing is stupid, that there are logical, peaceful ways to deal with this if people would just stop using God as a justification for their actions, because the God of Abraham, the God of Muhhamed and the God of Christ is the SAME god!
