if the cramping is 5 min. apart or closer and you can't do or think about anything else when you are cramping then you are in labor. your doctor should have told you her preference for when to go but that is what the nurses in the birthing units usually say. good luck and congrats.

congrats on ur pregnancy first , yes u should call ur doctor if u have cramps ,u r too close to deliver.dont wait till the last second so u deliver in the car or ambilance. good luck

Ask your doctor what he requires. Some have you call when you're contractions are a certain time frame apart. Only their staff will know for sure how dialated you are.
