My favorite thing to do when I'm feeling down is to ride somewhere, anywhere in my car, by myself with the windows down and the radio blaring. Perferably something by Nickelback. After that, phone a friend, spill my guts, cry my eyes out, and everything goes back to normal. Does the situation change? Usually not. Does my outlook change? Always!

The thing to realize is that EVERYBODY has blue days. Sometimes the more you try to get out of it, the more blue you get. Everybody has different ways of getting thru. Sometimes I just "enjoy" my blue day. I hibernate; I do what I call my "read & sleep" day. I really enjoy reading; so I crawl in bed with my current book and read. Eventually I doze off, and when I wake up, I start reading again. And then I doze... you get the picture. When I wake up the next day, it's another day. And time to do whatever that day holds.

I do something I feel has practical value, for myself or other, like now. Listening to the Blues or R and B helps to. Soul music is also good.

Read about progressive issues- positive changes in the world, go to the library, Chant, meditate, call a friend, listen to good music, take a shower, take care of myself, join an organization that helps the community and the world, write poetic thoughts, take a vacation- trip - somewhere, take art classes, go to a nice club and dance all night, swim, call people over, write a book and other things that make you smile....

Cry.
Pity myself.
Get depressed.
Stay away from everybody and just frown all day long.

And then, I'll cook and eat my favorite food, or watch my favorite show or play my favorite game to take the sadness away...
