about quicktime?

when something is supposed to be quicktime, like a pop-up ad or something it has a quicktime icon with a question mark in the middle. and when i try to play a video in quicktime player, i can hear audio but there is no video, its white. can anyone help me?

It might be that you have an older version of Quicktime and the video is using a newer codec that yours can't play. Reinstall the current version of Quicktime.
