C --- L --- I --- N --- T --- O --- N by a mile. Had it not been for the republican withhunt into the private affairs of President Clinton, he would have gone down as the best president ever. Froma pure standpoint of the state of the country under a president's watch & term, President Clinton got it done. Period !!

well benjamin franklin was never a president.......... but I would say definitely NOT abe lincoln as I always hear so many people trying to say. The best resident would be along the lines of washington, jefferson, and madison.

Washington; set the standards of behavior for presidents to come
Jefferson; set the policies and philosophy as well as doubling the size of the country

Thomas Jefferson. Not only did he double the size of the country, he did it while shrinking the government. Unlike the leaders of today, he spent little and accomplished a lot.
