How if at all does MRSA affect an unborn baby if the mother is a carrier? She would be relatively healthy except for the MRSA issue, and the father is healthy as well with no signs of MRSA.

An MRSA infection will not increase the chance of birth defects in a baby. It also does not cause miscarriage or death. The mother is more at risk than the baby because the mother will be more prone to infections.

The mother will have to be careful after delivery to always wash her hands before handling her baby and to keep any wounds covered so her baby doesn't come in contact with them.

Did you know the mother can even breastfeed, if she wants? MRSA is not passed via breast milk!
