Adopt a greyhound...we did...contact me if you want the info...they are greyhounds that will be killed unless someone adopts them...they are no longer fast enough for the track...we got a male, named Cuba...he has such a couch potato, loveable, MELLOW personality, yet he has the speed of lightning. He is so gentle and obeys so well...we easily trained him where to go potty in the yard and he ALWAYS goes in the same place.
Don't have to feed them much as they need to stay close to a certain weight...low maintenance...loves walks...if you could see him run in the park...it takes your breath away.
Good luck! :)

I grew up with cats and dogs, and I think both make great pets. However, right now I'm enjoying having a pet-free house and not having to worry about hair and messes and smells... I deal with enough of that stuff with a 3-year-old anyway. :-) Anyway, whatever you do DON'T get a bunny! We bought the cutest little bunny for my son, but it was the meanest darn thing. We had to end up giving it away. I guess my advice to you would be, before you buy a pet, do lots of research to make sure it's right for you and you know what you're getting yourself into.

Hamster. You don't have to take them out to use the bathroom. They don't shed hair all over the house. All you have to do is make sure the food and water container are full. Change the cage or tank once a week to keep the litter fresh. Also, they don't bark or meow. They can travel with you in a small cage. They are so cute and fun to play with. Basically they are for watching (they run through tunnels, hide food, climb, and run------they are active) They sleep during the day and are up at night.

Dogs are much better than cats. I don't mind getting slobbered on by a wet dog tongue. At least dogs are more loyal than cats. I still think that the book about the different things a person can do with a dead cat is funny.

Cats! They're independent, do not require tons of attention, do not have to be let out to go to the bathroom, won't be all over you when you get home, sleep most of the time, they have the "cattitude" :-) and much personality, there are *tons* of varieties and plenty more than dogs that need good homes at animal shelters!
Cats are facinating and beautiful creatures.

A pig. U may think its strange but the pigs are the cleanest pet u could have. They are loyal and u dont have to worry about any mystery surprises around the house like dogs.

Cats. I like cats. I'm not really a dog person unless they're calm natured, not hyper or overly playful. I also dont like the fact that dogs are way too dependent on you, they need love ALL the time (from my personal experiences), and cats, well, they want love when they want love and they'll get it then go away.

Depends on your personality. I have both and love them equally.
Dogs - Show how happy they are to see you, need to be exercised, need to be trained i.e. potty, chewing etc.
Cats - can love you just as much, but more if you get an orphan that needs bottle feeding, the cat I did that for gives me kisses and meows when I sneeze, she lost weight when I was away from her cuz she missed me, (my other cat did not).
dogs - more work, more affection
cats - less work and usually less affection

A dog? cuz that's the most intelligent and most playful animal you could keep. And thru evolution, they seem to adapt with humans better than any other species of animals.
