Good luck at Disney. I have run 4 marathons, includind Disney. It is a great run. The tour of the parks is great and the Disney characters and music make for a fun run. Bring a camera so you can enjoy the run.
Some thoughs on the run. First be prepared for a very early start. Unlike most marathons, Disney beings when it is still dark out. Get plenty of sleep the week before the race and make sure you eat and drink properly. You should spend the week before drinking plenty of water every day and stay off your feet as much as possible in the days leading up to the run. Also, be prepared for the heat. When it gets hot in florida, it gets very hot. Bring good head covering and plenty of water. If you don't have a fuel belt, get one. Make sure you eat properly before and during the run. Make sure you bring food such as gels or powerbars to eat on the run. If you can, find a sports nutritonist who can tell you exactly how much you need to eat and drink during the run. TRUST me it is very important. Most important, BEHAVE yourself. Don't think you are going to win. Start out very slow and run at a steady pace. You should finish the last mile at the same pace as the first. (Here is a tip, you should be able to carry on a conversation as you run. If you can't your running too fast) If you don't you will have big problems. If this is your fist marathon, then the goal is just to finish. No one will care what your time was, when you show them the really cool Disney finishers medal, all they will see is that you ran a marathon, something they probably never will. Just remember, that when you cross the finish line you will have done something that very few people have ever done. So, just enjoy the run, and be proud of the accomplishment.
PS. All marathons are 26.2 miles. There are shorter distance races (1/2 marathon, 15K, 10K, 5K) but they are not marathons.
PPS, If you want to get the right training, contact the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. They will teach you how to run, you'll meet great people and you will raise money for a great cause. www.teamintraining.org
Have fun at Disney.

I think its a good idea to do your first one close to home, but that's just my opinion. I think one of the best Marathons in the country is the U.S.M.C. marathon in Washington, D.C, near the Marine Corps birthday... Chicago and Twin Cities marathon are also nice runs and good places to visit.
I've heard good things about the San Antonio, Texas marathon...
