y = mx + b

b= y intercept
m= slope

so number 1 would be
slope = 2/5
y intercept= -2

and number 2 would be
slope= -1/3
y intercept= 0

Pretty simple
(1) For slope, that is pretty simple, 2/5 is your slope, to find the y interecept, set x = 0, therefore -2 is your y intercept
(2) Same thing, -1/3 and y int=0
(3) a little more fun from the algebra 1 book, good old point slope
(5, 3000) and (7, 8000)
So take y-y(1) and x-x(1) and divide (5000/2)=2500=m(slope)
then take one set of coordinates (5, 3000) lets say and plug them into the y= ax +b formula (where a is slope and b is offset)
y-3000 = 2500 (x-2) ...
y-3000 = 2500 x - 5000
y = 2500 x - 2000

1. slope: 2/5, y-intercept: -2

2. slope: -1/3, y-intercept: 0(none)

3. graph the points and find the slope using m=rise/run
then use the equation y-y1 = m(x-x1) to find the
answer. this is the only way to find the answer, so
don't waste ur time reading other bogus answers.

y = mx + b

m is the slope andb is the y-intercept

therefore...
1. slope is 2/5 and y-intercept is -2
2. is -1/3 intercept is 0

use m = (y - y1)/(x - x1)

3. m = (8000 - 3000)/ (7 - 5)
= 2500

therefore.....using y = mx + b
pick either ordered number pair
8000 = 2500*7 + b
8000 = 17500 + b
cancel to get
-9500 = b

substitute into y = mx + b formula
y = 2500x - 9500

as they used to say in Geometry

For 1 and 2, the slope of y=mx + b is m, the co-effecient of x, or number you multiply x by. The y-intercept is b, the number you add, when it's in that form.

For 3, find the slope, (y2-y1)/(x2-x1) and use the point-slope form.

That's cheating and the answers are worth more than 10 lousy points.

You're supposed to solve the problems yourself. Any answers you receive, from here, would be a form of cheating.
