It has been a couple of years since I've been and would like to go back some time next year. Last time I went, it was for the month of July and the tickets were kind of pricey. When is the best time of year to find cheap flights to Greece? What airlines? We flew KLM/Northwest last time. I would be flying into Athens International.

Hello dear!
Great choice to return to Greece!
I have flown many times from Boston to Athens! Every time was a wonderful experience!
Combining costs and amusements I consider September the best month! Most of tourists are back to their nests, the weather is superb and people are in great condition!
September!

I went to October in Greece and I had a lovely time. The weather wasn't so hot, like in the summer, but I suggest you go in September because the prices get down in the tourist places and the sun is still strong. If you need a cheap flight, I sugeest you use www.europeancheapflights.com.

Have a nice time in Greece!!!

Holiday flying packets are nowadays a much economic bargain than driving to Greece unless you plan to drive around the mainland. The ferry costs both on the channel and on the Italy- Greece leg are quite steep plus overnight stays both on land and on the ferry. Depending therefore on the number of people traveling the cost may be about the same , but that is if you plan to rent a car here. Some of the links below may help you.

From April to last days of June and September-October tickets, hotels, everything are cheaper. That's for the summer vacations.
Greece is very good for winter vacations also because there are a lot of mountains. So,in winter tickets are cheap, too.
Beside that I don't know with which airline you can fly from the States to Europe, but from every European city you can fly to Athens. There are flights with Olympic Airways and Aegean Airlines which are totally safe from terrorism.

The drive to Greece having got to France is a long one, requiring at least one overnight stop. Add on petrol and toll charges, as well as breakdown insurance and wear and tear on the car and you'd be better off flying. Unless you want the journey to be part of your holiday.
