I'm currently living in Cancun. Here in Cancun there is so much to do it just depends on what you like to do. You can visit Mayan ruins, they have fabulous scuba diving, swimming with dolphins, Xcaret and Xel-Ha, they're natural water parks. I just went to Xcaret 2 weeks ago, it's great. It's about 45 minx. to and hour drive from Cancun but they do have tour buses that will take you there. In Xcaret they have natural underground rivers that take you about an hour to swim through, don't worry it's not dangerous, my 3 year old did the whole swim with us, and everyone uses life jackets. They have a beautiful beach, swimming with the dolphins, all diffrent kinds of activities, animals to see, a night show and great food. Xel - Ha is similar but it's double the drive. Tulum is popular too, another Mayan ruin site right next to the ocean. The have tons of jungle adventure tours to do. You won't have problems finding great things to do, the problem you'll have is having enough time to do everything you want to do. The night life is awesome as well. There is also a little island off Cancun called Isla Mujeres it's a 25 min. ferry ride. The beaches there are as good as it gets, and it's well known for it's snorkeling. It's a fabulous island everyone rides golf carts and mopeds. Whatever you do you'll have a blast. HAVE FUN!!

We did a FunJet trip to Cancun last year. The hotel we stayed at was a billed as 4 star but it was more like a 2 star. However, the food was good, the beach was nice and the rooms mostly comfortable. The biggest complaint about the room was that the AC turned off based on motion sensor. This meant that if you left the room, the AC turned off so when you returned (if it was day time) the room was hot and took a while to cool down. Also, when you went to sleep and didn't move around a lot, the AC turned off and the room got hot again so you had to get up to make the AC come back on. We tricked it by getting a helium balloon and had it floating in the air and moved by the ceiling fan!
We didn't do any of the excursions. We have found that the excursions are really not worth the premium price and just rent a vehicle or travel by Taxi. We rented a jeap and went to Chitzi nizsu and that was awesome!
Hope this helps and good luck!
Oh.. you will be constantly approached by time share / vacation resort sales people. Just ignore them or tell them your not interested. If you look interested.. they'll talk to you for HOURS and waste your vacation time!

The best is to go to Chitzen Itzu to see all of the famous myan ruins. It was the best excursion I have ever been on in my life and I have been on about 20.
