My husband suffered a concussion from an on the job injury. Now, he has lost his sense of smell.

Has anyone had any experience with a traumatic brain injury and loss their sense of smell afterwards. If so, what was the doctor's long term prognosis?

I had a head/neck injury playing football in high school, resulting in the loss of the ability to swallow.. was my first experience with a chiropractor.. only needed one visit. May want to consider that approach.

I have not had a peronal experience but due to a concussion myself although not as severe as your husbands, He could be without his smell for the rest of his life or one da itm ay just come back. I had heard of a person who had a concussion adn went blind, they remained blind for many years then one day they had an accidental blow to the head again and their site came back. More than the doctors I would rely on God for that one I think HE would have better answers for you. You can be thankful he did not lose his memory or site. I am sorry if this h as not been helpful I hope it was. I am sorry to hear about your husband be happy you still have him that sounds like an awful blow he took.

I've not experienced that specificly, but after being mugged I did develop a numb patch about the size of a quarter over my upper lip. I eventually regained feeling there again.

I can't promise that your husband will regain his sense of smell, but he might.

Sometimes it comes back sometimes it doesn't. Sorry. Taste is intimately involved with appetite. Watch your husband to make sure that he is getting enough to eat. Good Luck.

My father-in-law lost his sense of taste. He has never regained it. Maybe your hubby will recover. It could be a lot worse.

I'm sorry for you and your husband...
