It was Jens , Lehman, German goalie, who was briefed

by Jurgen Klinsman on the usual choice of side meaning right or left where the Argentinian forwards
direct their penalty shots. This briefing allowed Germany to beat Argentina in the penalty series

It was Jens Lehmann against Argentina in the penalty shootout, and that is perfectly legal, he was just studying his opponents that is all. Good job, for he is an intelligent player who does his homework. He is also the best goalkeeper in the world!
