If someone sends you a Microsoft Word document and you want to edit it but it is locked (example: When I click on edit and scroll down to select all it won’t let me and it’s not even highlighted) how can I either unlock it or copy it to a new word document?

I don't believe you can... Once it's password protected, then the original author owns it and you can not edit it... .But perhaps someone else here will have a better solution

Select all of the text and copy, then close the document and open a new blank, then past the text only.

Go to edit, select all, and copy to a new document. Safe the file and rename if you want.

You are unable to unlock a locked document unless that person gives you the password.

select all, copy and paste to a new document. IF copying is locked you can print it out then scan it back in.

You can't. They need to resend the document unlocked. It is their mess.
