"Lakshadweep (pronunciation?·i; Malayalam: ലക്ഷദ്വീപ്, [Lakṣadvīp]) is the smallest union territory of India. Located in the Arabian Sea, it consists of twelve coral atolls, three coral reefs, five banks, and numerous islets that lie between 200–300 km off the coast of Kerala. The total land area of the territory is 32 km². Eleven of the islands are inhabited. Lakshadweep is the northern part of the erstwhile Old Lakshadweepa."

Lakshadeep is an archipelago consisting of 12 atolls, 3 reefs and 5 submerged banks. there are 10 inhabited islands and 17 uninhabited islands with a total geographical area of 32 sq. Kms., 220 to 440 Kms. away from the coastal city of Kochi in Kerala, in the emerald Arabian sea.
