I think to punish any crime is to assume that punishment is the only reason why one should not commit a crime and that people cannot be relied upon to act with basic decency towards each other. That is to say that this sort of law assumes that without punishment people would be bound to do wicked deeds - that people are evil unless forced to be good.
Also by punishing anything with death it assumes that the perpetrator could never reform and will always try to do bad things unless you destroy them, this basically is saying that people can never change for the better.
Finally a death penalty can only be fair if the law is infailable and nobody innocent is ever wrongly convicted. If one innocent person is wrongly killed by the law out of fairness and equality all the other innocent people should be killed too - unless the point of law is to be unfair and to favour some people over others.

To conclude I think this is a terrible law as it nessecarily assumes all people are evil and cannot change and is nessecarily unfair and favouritist.

The similarities between the Torah and fundamental Islam with respect to mankind's relationship with God finds its apogee in the barbaric execution of moral judgement. The entirely imaginary characteristics of God portrayed by primitive men shouting 'Thus says the Lord' belongs to a world that I thought Christ, the Messiah of both Sarah and Haggai's offspring, had turned on its head.
Not only does the Old Testament undermine the true character of God, revealed in Christ, but it maintains the age of primitivism in both Christendom and Islam. The Bible and the Koran are truly 'the abomination in the Holy Place'.
The Holy Place is the heart of man where God has been trying to establish His government of love, peace, forgiveness and truth ever since the beginning. And the abomination is the words of men which have been rasied up to be equal with God's own testimony He brought with Him as the Son of God.
Sadly the human race prefers hatred, war, bitterness and lies and has found in the Bible and the Koran certain fallible testimonies that endorse their wicked and evil social practices.
When Christ returns shortly, both books will be chucked into the PIT.

Dunno if I agree that the muslim punishment for being a convicted rapist is death by stoning, as I have never actually studied any Islamic texts (except the Old Testament).

Do I agree with death by stoning as a punishment for raping? No: I believe that where capital punishment is used it should be in a humane way. The electric chair isn't humane either.

Stoning is a dated and barbaric punishment and shouldn't be brought back. However in my opinion rapists get off too lightly and only get piffling sentences, the sentencing for rapists should be much longer and they should be castrated.

Adultery in Torah punishes only women. Women should be boiled in semen.
Stoning been the routine punishment for women in Torah and Christianity . Read old Torah to understand your faith?
Sadly there are NO much stones in the Muslim world. They have to be happy with jailing them to die in shame.

although they do deserve it for their crime, stonning is not an acceptable way. I'd rather see them rot in jail for 25 years and let community look down upon him. physical pain only last awhile, but emotional toil last a lifetime.
