in the US, it goes like this...
4 years undergraduate university
4 years medical school
3-6 years residency
That doesn't even include additional time spent in the workforce, or if the person wants to do a masters degree or other doctorate. And fellowships are common, and that can tack another 2 to 8 years onto your training.
In other countries, it takes fewer years because medical training is included as part of undergraduate education (such as in Thailand and India).

4 years of pre med at college
4 years of medical school
1 yr internship.
After a one year internship, if you pass the state medical board, you can become a general practioner. If you want to be a specialist, you will require the following:
2-4 years of training as a resident in an accredited hospital.
A few months to prepard from Board Cerification. If you pass the specialty Board, then you are Board Certified in the specialty of your choice.
This is an outline of the time you will need to become the kind of doctor you desire, whether it be a GP, or a specialist.

Neither one in all you may stay interior the US. as quickly as you finished or terminate your analyze, you're required to return on your individual united states. Ditto to your spouse. BTW, in case you got here on a student visa, you're forbidden to paintings. Violate your student visa and you will on no account get yet another visa to the US.
