i know i sounds like a funny question (i think so too), but in every class at eh end of the year I mentioned it too ened p having a big discussion over it.

It didn't start out as a candy. Way back in 500 a.d. the Mayans made a drink from the cacao bean. It was a bitter drink and not everyone liked it. The Spaniards took the Mayan word chocol and added the Aztec word atl to make a word sounding close to chocolate. By the 17th century it was commonly sweetened and still served as a beverage. In 1828 it appeared in cakes and pastries. The Dutch had found a process to make the chocolate into a milder form. The Swiss got into it also in the 19th century. I would say NO, chocolate is not a candy! It becomes a candy confection when sugar and cream and butter is added. Although, many people will hand you a piece of See's and say, "Would you like a chocolate?" It's like when someone gives you a Pepsi and they say, "Have a Coke." or visa versa. You can buy cocoa powder or unsweetened chocolate and make candy.

No....chocolate is a vegetable.
All things on this planet are either animal, vegetable, or mineral. Since chocolate has never lived and breathed, it is not animal.
Since you cannot mine chocolate from the ground, it is not mineral. Hence, it must be a vegetable. Eat your veggies.
