I was sitting in my living room, and well.....i wanted to know what time it was. I looked up at the clock, which was working just fine. After about 5 seconds the clock stopped (the batteries went dead). Is there some myth about seeing a clock stop? My friend told me i should have died shortly after. Anyone know?

there is one myth i have heard of that deals with stoping clocks...
during the last couple hundred years or so, when a person died in your or their home...it was a tradition to stop all the clocks in the house...as sort of a way to know when the time of death was in honor of that person...that kind of thing isnt practiced really anymore...but its said to believe that when a ghosts tries to make contact with you, the spirit can have the power to stop time, particularly, at the exact time when they died...ive seen various things on this myth, but its really just a myth...and it cant really be proven true...
but its still scary and cool to hear at the same time

Here s something to think about:
It may not always be the batteries. My dad s watch stopped working about a week before he died. He replaced the batteries and it would work for a few minutes and then stop as soon as he put it on his wrist. So he replaced the batteries again. Same thing happened. The watch stopped working again. He did this repeatedly and even took his watch to the jeweler. It worked for the jeweler and they could not find anything wrong with the watch. He died a few days later at home and the watch never worked while in his possession during that week. He even bought new batteries at the store thinking his batteries were duds. My dad kept trying to get his favorite watch (that never stopped ticking) to work during that week. It baffled him and none of us could figure it out. Of course, none of us ever tied the watch to the stopping of time in a broader sense.
Perhaps there is some significance to clocks stopping to signal the end of time for someone. Not necessarily for everyone. Is it a coincidence that the many times the batteries were replaced over the course of that week they were all bad? And why would the watch work for the jeweler, but now for him? I believe that they are some things in life for which we have no answer, no logical explanation, and I am not religious or superstitious.
I realize this is an old post, but I just stumbled on this as I was searching for thoughts on watches or clocks stopping for no apparent reason. My moms watch (movement piece, not battery driven) and her favorite clock (also a movement piece, not battery dependent) both have stopped working. I find this a little odd. Both stopping at the same time, both wound and were both working fine for years and years. Could be a coincidence, but I will not assume that 100% just yet. She is 83. Could be her time.

My friend got buried today but when i woke up this morning my clock had stopped at 10 past 6 in the morning. The hands won't go round on it but it still works , I can still hear the ticking . It could mean anything i know ..But i thought it was very strange that it stopped on the day of his funeral

I'm not too sure but it may mean that someone you know will die.
My mom passed away in 2001.
My mom and I had an small mini version of a grandfather clocked that hadn't worked in years.
It had no batteries in it.
But I went home one day and one morning at 6am it started chiming loudly. The little pendulum started swinging back and forth. It shocked it my mother and me.
How was it working?
Every morning at 6am it would start chiming.
A week later, Sept 16 2001 she passed away in her at 6am!
It was an omen and the clocked stopped working from then on.

I think you're looking too much into this.
The batteries were old. End of story.
In your lifetime you will probably see many clocks die. You replace the battery and move on.

Yeah, that is a portent of an impending death. Or an ending of some kind. If it happened right when the pipeline in Alaska had trouble, pushing the price of oil up again, it could mean the end of oil is coming. That might be too broad.

i think there is a great possibility that something happened at that time to someone close to you and now they dont want to tell you or anything. Or it could be a sign that something is going to happen at that time on another day. Or it could judt mean that your batteries were old and i hge coinsience.

try to investigate your home do some background research, maybe something did indeed happen at 7:04 or you can go to the place you got the clock and ask if anything is wrong with it
