I don't understand of why its USA and France (Who Republicans hate) to draw up the ceasefire agreement...Shouldn't it be with thier governments and not ours or France???

Or how come its not Russia/Spain
(Only examples, could be China/Italy)
drawing up their cease fire?

The USA is always called into these things, because the USA has money. Whenever we "broker" a peace between nations, we always end up giving billions of doallars to all parties involved. We'll probably even end up giving FRANCE money after the deal is done.

Why France is involved, besides the prospect of getting billions in aid from the USA, I couldn't tell you. Perhaps because Lebanon was a former French colony. Or maybe it's just to make the French think they are still important on the world stage.

Russia and Spain and China would not be involved, because those nations have no damn clue what they're doing as far as diplomacy and foreign relations go. We'd be better off letting Haiti and Tanzania negotiate the peace deal than any of those countries.

Love, Jack.

No other countries want the responibility ....Russia could care less they just want to sell weapons to anyone so if they broker a ceasefire it hurts their export business of weapons. China could care less, and most EU countries are too scared to get involved let alone send a peace force over there. So that leaves US (israel's ally) and France (looooong time influence on Lebanon) to try to broker A DEAL

France is somewhat pro Lebanon, America is pro Israel. They both are permanent members of the security council so they both have veto powers. The other permanent members of the security council do not car that much about the conflict.

As for Spain or Italy, neither is a permanent member of the Security council.

If the resolution was not to Israel's linking, chances are that the US will use it's veto powers.

WELL FRANCE BACKED OUT AT THE LAST MINUTE AND STABBED THE U.S. IN THE BACK. SCREW THE FRENCH. THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO HANDLE THEIR
OWN PROBLEMS IN THE MIDDLE EAST BUT TO MANY RELIGIOUS DIFFERENCES MAKE THE WORLD GET INVOLVED. IF THE U.N. HAD ANY REAL POWER THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN OVER A LONG TIME AGO.
JUST GOT THIS BREAKING NEWS FROM CNN ;
-- U.S. and France agree the main points of a resolution to end fighting between Israel and Hezbollah -- including on the sequencing of deployment of the U.N. force, diplomatic sources say.

Probably because those governments are the ones who actually want a ceasefire now.
