1. Abercrombie, Hollister, etc. are not expensive boutiques. (have you ever been to Neiman Marcus?)
2. People are buying the name. It's sort of a "privilige" type thing when you can get an Abercrombie t-shirt, or a pair of Hollister jeans.
3. Shirts are only like $30 or $40 at most usually, not 50 million dollars.
4. Don't shop there. It doesn't have to affect you. Just let the people who like to shop there, shop there. It's as simple as that. Everyone acts like it's a big deal that people like to pay that amount of money for those clothes, but not many people care that other people are making a big deal out of something that doesn't even affect them.

Well I am the type of girl that likes to dress nicely, comfortably, and with clothes that fit who I am. Aeropostale, American Eagle, and Hollister aren't as expensive as everyone makes them seem. Aeropostale constantly has a sale so you never buy things for the ticketed price. American Eagle and Hollister sell shirts for $15.50. Aeropostale and American Eagle usually always have a special going on, like a free bag with your purchase. Abercrombie on the other hand does not fit my budget, but Hollister is the cheaper/casual line of Abercrombie. Their clothes are simple, which I like, I don't like a lot of attention and I don't necessarily want my clothes to make a fashion statement, I just want to look cute. I dont wear a lot make up either and most fashion magazines don't even feature these stores mostly more expensive lines like Ralph Lauren, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, etc.

Different people have different reasons as to why they shop there. Some think buying clothes from those stores will help make them fit in. Others genuinely like the clothes.
I personally like American Eagle, Aeropostale, and Hollister because the clothes made there fit me well, and I think they're cute. I do make it a point to mix it up and add my own touches, as well as shopping at different stores.
One last thing: don't be too quick to rag on those types of stores. You may think that they're just awful, but someone else might think the way you dress is horrendous. Everyone has the right to dress in the way they feel most comfortable, and who or what gives you the authority to determine what is cute, original, ugly, trendy, etc. ?

What I don't understand is why spend an arm and a leg on clothes, when you can get the same styles of clothes at places like Wal-Mart, Target, etc. They're almost exactly the same, except for the label...and actually, most of those expensive clothes don't last long. I got a pair of GAP jeans, and an Abercrombie shirt for one of my birthdays (I've never owned either before), and wore them a couple of times. By the third or fourth time I wore them, I had holes in them. Go figure lol

i don't save at Abercrombie and Hollister very many times by using fact i think of their outfits are too high priced for the way fee effectively made they're, and the fashions are a sprint revealing on occasion. yet whilst i discover a stunning camisole for layering or a sweatshirt i admire, i will purchase it. I save at American Eagle extra many times by using fact they look a sprint extra conservative. one factor i do in comparison to approximately Abercrombie and Hollister is that that's continuously darkish and loud interior the shops, and it continuously reeks so strongly of cheap cologne. Yuck.

Because in society, people praise others that spend too much money on name brand clothes. It's a fad, that's the way it always will be. In some cases, the clothes are well made. But in my own experiences with Abercrombie, American Eagle, and Hollister, the clothing is somewhat cheaply made, but they pay good attention to detail. If you want to get sturdy jeans, get some Levis. If you want to be popular, buy name brand.

People usually shope at places like Abercrombie because they enjoy the lifestyle and impressions the clothes convey to people.
For example: Abercrombie is targeted to the around college age (but is worn as early as children in Abercrombie Kids). It is associated with a 'preppy lifestyle' of the Ivy League- Sex, Status, and Sports. And a lot of people like that.

I'm with you. I never shop and Abercrombie, Hollister, Aeropostale, or even Limited Too. In fact, I don't shop at malls at all! They are way overated! I still with my Target and Kohl's. They have all the cool stuff still! :)
