I would stay away from home remedies, especially ones that are suggested to you on the internet, you never know what someone's motivations are to giving out 'medicinal' advice. Baby Tylenol is safe, however, make sure you are communicating with your physician about dosage and quantities.
My daughter had ear infections so much that we had to put in tubes. The antibiotic will work, and it seems to take about 24 hours for your child to start showing signs of improvement - however DO NOT STOP giving your daughter the medication, even if she seems to feel better, that will only allow the bacteria to grow back, stronger, because it may adapt to the medication adn form a resistance.
Best of luck to you,
Stefanie

Baby Tylenol can be given with the amoxicillin. Amoxicillin is an antibiotic, and will kill the actual infection, but it does nothing to relieve the pain and discomfort. Tylenol is a pain reliever, and will help relieve some of the other symptoms (fever, achiness, etc.).
Amoxicillin will begin to work immediately, but you will not see a difference for about three days. If you don't see some sort of calming in that time, take your daughter back to see the doctor. But the tylenol can be given every 4 to 6 hours for pain and fever. I would do that for a day or so, just to get her through the rough spots. From there, she should begin to feel better, and will calm down.
Good luck!!

Poor thing.. my daughter was like that.. everytime she got sick or a tooth was popping thru she had got a dbl ear infection..
With the amox. you should see a difference in her within 3-5 days. it sounds like she needs a stronger antibiotic.. .. you CAN give her Tylenol or Motrin for the pain as well..
* Acetaminophen or ibuprofen are effective pain relievers for ear pain. You can safely use both medications together if one alone is not enough. Click on each medication for dosage.
* Warm compress – apply a warm washcloth to the ear.
* Warm olive oil, vegetable oil, or garlic oil – put several drops of one of these into the ear. MAKE SURE THE OIL ISN’T TOO HOT.
* Anesthetic eardrops – if the above remedies aren’t enough, these are available by prescription and can numb the eardrum to minimize the pain for an hour or two.
****If the fever and fussiness are not improving after 48 – 72 hours of an antibiotic, your child may need a stronger one.

The amoxicillan should start working quickly, my daughter had the same thing and she was only a few weeks old. Tylenol is fine, it will also help relieve some of the pain. Don't know of any home remedies, but try to feed her sitting up so the pressure isn't so much on her ears. Try elevating her mattress a little too that will also take off some of the pressure and pain until her ear infection goes away.
Hope she feels better soon. Hugs.

Well, I do know some remedies.
1-Heat up some olive oil (not too hott, just warm) and put a cotton ball in the olive oil. When it is covered, put the cotton ball in her ear. This doesn't help make the infection better but the warmth makes it not hurt as much. (What can I say? I'm italian! =])
2- Mix rubbing alchohol and vinegar tagether and put it in her ear. Wait 1 or 2 minutes to let it get in then have her get it out. (This one might be tough for a baby because getting it out would be hard)
Good Luck and I hope her ear gets better really quick!

My 8 month old also has a double ear infection. I am allowed to give her baby tylenol, but please check with your doctor because the dosage on the bottle does not specify for young infants and he will have to tell you how much based on her weight. It took about 2 days for her to feel better, but the tylenol really helped until then. Good luck and I hope she is feeling better soon!

Infant tylenol should be ok but double check with the doctor. Ammoxacillin usually takes 3 to 4 doses before a little one starts to feel better, make sure she has lots of fluids and as much rest as possible.

Ok...I know for a fact tylenol can be taken with amoxicillin...so give her the doesage for her weight and age...as for home remedies...a warm washcloth on her ears will help...I have suffered from ear infections all my life and the warmth helped...when the infection starts to break she will be uncomfortable b/c of her ears draining. I hope she gets to feeling better.

well first of all make sure you give your baby ALL the medicine. She should start to feel better in about 2-3 days. The best home remedy is breastfeed. There is not too much you can give a 6 month old baby. Ask your pediatrician about it! GOOD LUCK

Give her Tylenol, as stated on the bottle for amounts. She will be feeling better maybe tonight already, but for sure by tomorrow. Within a week she should be acting like normal, but don't stop giving the medication till it is completely empty.
