I know he's a kicker, but damn! Tell me an athlete more clutch than him in the last decade.

Yes he is. He will become the 2nd kicker in the HOF. He won 3 superbowls for his team, that's enough right there. Plus he is as automatic as it gets.

Vinatieri can get there, but he's going to need to keep up the pace for at least another 5-6 years. The only pure placekicker in the Hall is Jan Stenerud - he played for 19 years and scored 1699 points. He kicked 17 field goals of over 50 yards.

Vinatieri has 10 years in and has 1156 points. If he wins another Super Bowl with the Colts and breaks 2000 points, I think he will be a lock for the Hall of Fame. If he doesn't win another Super Bowl for the Colts, I think he is going to have to come close to Gary Anderson's 2454 points to get into the Hall of Fame.

Its a really tough call - very few kickers ever get into the Hall of Fame - it will really depend on his longevity whether or not he will get in IMHO. As a Patriots fan I will say he certainly belongs the New England Sports Hall of Fame - but that is a poor second for him getting inducted in the NFL Hall of Fame in Canton. If he can continue at the level of success he has had for the 7 or 8 years then I would say he will get it because by then he will be one of the most succesful kicker the game has ever known. Otherwise he will disappear like Matt Bahr and Roy Gerela of the Steelers (and Giants for Bahr in Superbowls) or G. Yupremihen (sp) of the Miami Dolphins who is most famous for his one professional forward pass in Superbowl 7 against the Redskins.

Well if any kicker will be he will proably be the one. It would be hard to say he will but like you said it's hard not to.
