Nothing. Leave him alone. Give him as much time as he needs, generally at least 30 minutes to and hour to relax. You want to make it a quiet as possible, and let him do whatever. This would be a good time to avoid him, or better yet, not even be home.

After that, you can try to talk to him. But don't just jump on him though. You should not want to have a big huge talk, just as he walks in the door. Start slow, talk about the day and such.....don't cut his throat with 'you're home now lazy butt when will you cut the grass!!!'

Ask yourself why you feel such a need to talk to him when he gets home. Can't you just wait till evening, say like 8? Let him come home, relax and eat....then before the big 8 TV show bring the stuff up. You might also want to save the 'big' stuff for the weekends...that is why there are weekends.

You may also need a Friend to talk too, or to simply do things yourself too.

Get rid of the kids for a night. When he comes home have a nice dinner for him and some wine. Make the lights a little lower but don't do the candles. We hate candles. Why don't women believe us about the candles...sigh. Then simply during dinner just tell him you want to simply talk without the kids and I bet you he will too. Then before the kids get back bang each other's brains out. BUT WEAR A CONDOM - 4 is enough.

Tell the kids that dad is tired and not to bother him (while in the tub). Run him a nice hot bath and light some candles, or just turn the lights off all together and let him lay there and relax (by himself) for a while. Then when he's after he gets out of the tub, feed him (he'll probably be hungry). After that, chances are that he'll feel like talking and he'll be relaxed.

I agree with the first two answerer's. Allow him some decompression time, offer him a massage and something to eat and/or drink. Let him know you are interested in how his day was and you are there to listen.
