Thats what my 6 year old son asked me this morning when he turned on CNN. I asked him how he felt when he watched the news and he said it was ok, but he didnt like people getting killed in wars and asked me if it made me sad and when I thought about it, it did. what about you?

Everyday.
I hurt when I see all the pain in the world.

And by the way, I think it's great you let your 6 year old watch CNN. He will be a very educated man.

The reason I cry isn't just because what I see on the news, it is also for the lack of coverage for many important issues. I hate it that the world is so gloomy and driven by hate and fear but many things that the viewers should be educated about are neglected. Have any of you ever seen more than just a clip of the situation in Darfur? What about the harvesting of organs from live people in China? No, you probably haven't, and therefore those crisis' will not end. I would much rather see that than a play by play of a robbery. It may not be pleasant, but some times, the hardest things to watch are the most important.

Yep. I never watch the news anymore. I can't control what I see. I usually just look at online news or newspapers. It's entirely too depressing to be shown so many horrible things without anyone ever saying how to fix it. When I read it, I can look up related things and see if there's anything that I could do about it. (Writing to my representatives, voting differently, contributing to organizations, ect.) Maybe if you show your son how people can help or change these things, he won't be so sad.

yep, all the time, all that stupidity is just grosse, its always a wonder how mankind survives, but on the other hand, there is a lot in this life that is good, and what is the alternative?

i don't watch the news for that very reason. i find it upsetting and unsettling. i think it is very unnecessary for people to suffer and die like that. it would make most people question God and religion, but all that suffering is man made.

don't cry and don't let your children cry.. find what you can do to make your reality better.. or do something for someone less fortunate ..
this will change your participation in this vengeful world we live in.. and hopefully make you both feel better.
God bless
