Rock Staris way better. American Idol is too gooey and orchestrated for my tastes.
When they have all the American Idol touring shows selling tickets and making money afterwards it's a bit too much.
Mind you I did see a poster for a show in a small Kingston Ontario pub with the finalists for Rockstar. If I was in town I would have gone to see it.
But I choose Rock Star

I like American Idol way more. Rock Star people seem to think that AI isn't cool enough, and that they're true rockers...Only they cry and say way cheesier things than AI contestants (or judges) would ever dream of saying. The fact that they all take themselves so seriously is really pitiful. AND too many of them on the show aren't actually all that great musically. Just because you're a rocker doesn't mean you shouldn't be expected to sing on key more times than not. AI knows its place, knows that it's a singing contest and nothing more (well, other than the fact that it's a TV phenomenon of sorts). Don't get me wrong, Brooke Burke is a lot nicer to look at than Ryan Secrest, but she doesn't really add anything to the show, and Tommy Lee is just as clueless as the contestants. INXS's people were way cooler.
