clowns exist mainly for the children...the costume attracts a young one's sensibilities especially the outgoing type, and is usually limited to circus acts and special parties (usually a birthday party) with a few magic tricks as part of the act...basically the funniness stems from the costume and painted face which projects a comical being..what can be scary is a clown with mean intentions since they are practically out of their true persona when they have the complete garb.....so i dont think the song "everyone loves a clown" should be taken too seriously

Yes, there was "IT" and there was Wes Craven's 1998 remake of the "Carnival of Souls" that did it for me.
Clowns are definitely not funny and I don't get how the first thing that comes out of people's mouths when organizing a party for their kids is "Let's hire a clown"! I personally saw a bunch of little ones erupt in violent tears at the sight of a big clown walking towards them with a balloon and they had NOT seen "IT" either.

I dont find them funny in fact I actually feel a bit sorry for them as they are just so stupid, who wants to act like a fool anyway,
Never liked clowns even when young but I have weird sense of humour, if I saw someone dressed in normal clothes fall over by accident I would find that funny, but not someone doing it deliberately.

I like clowns, I still do even after I read the book It, which is about a creature that kills kids, not a clown(its a creature that dresses up like a clown, because, what kid doesn't like a clown? Hahahaha) I don't like them because they're funny, I just like them. Very effective if you dress up as a clown for Halloween, especially when most of your friends are afraid of clowns =D

Clowns dress differently that shout for attention. May not be amusing to wet blaket or party-poops!
But what about their antics, clownish acts?
They're really amusing making children roar with laughter & intriguing even the adults.
I've seen adults cutting a sorry figure before the audience by the clowns' tricks!
CLOWNS DO CLICK!
Play a Clown, you'll know what good job he is doing! (most often 'he' & not 'she'!

They wear make up. Badly. They wear oversize trousers so thay can pour water/custard down each other's trousers, and shake them, so it goes jiggly jiggly round thier genitals...and this, in front of children. Like all alcaholics they have red noses, and no sense of comedy whatsoever. You never really know who they are. This is worrying, with so many former soviet republic circuses touring. They are completely sinister.
