Almost no store in the United States are taking pre-orders of Nintendo Wii, I know that some stpres in California were taking, and Toys R' Us in Australia and Canada are taking pre-orders. Because an official release date for Nintendo Wii has not been anounce yet, stores in the US do not want to start taking pre-orders.
Many analists speculate that it will be release in early October. Nintendo recently said that the release date will be announce in september, which makes an october launch date more possible (hopefully). Nnintendo did confirmed that the Wii wil NOT cost more than $250, many people think it is going to be $200, but even if it wasn't it is still A LOT cheaper than the other consoles. You can find a lot more information about the console on Nintnedo.com, or IGN, or Gamespot.
PS: Wii rocks!!!
And some people belive that Nintendo is going to launch Nintendo Wii before the Playstation 3 comes out, so since the PS3 is coming out on November 17th, Wii should be out before that date
Nintendo resently released a press release about the launch dates if some upcoming DS games, and apparently the release date of the Wii was encoded in the press relesase, after trying to decode the message many people ended up with October 2, or October 9 as a release date

I have at least two sites I think three that are supose to email when preorders are available, so right now I don't think so, your local game store might have some kind of deal, but other than that all you can do is wait.
