It depends on the type of infection. But in a nutshell, you can have any of these symptoms and have a bladder infection:
1. stinging pain while urinating
2. odor
3. frequency ( you have to go all the time, but only a little comes out)
4. lower abdominal pain

A bladder infection usually shows itself with 1. severe back pain, pain in urinating, and going often. This is also similar to UTI's that women usually get at least once or twice in their lifetime. Definitely need to see a dr!

burning on urination, streaks of blood in the toilet, having an overwhelming urge to pee (you have to go reaaalllly bad and you have to go NOW feeling) only to go in and end up going just a teensy bit. Also I get this really odd feeling down there just at the end of the stream, just before I'm done.
Drink lots of water and cranberry juice until you can get to the doctors.

you always feel like you have to pee, and can't. it burns when you pee. call your doctor right away. you may be able to get a prescription over the phone. if not, there are these pills at the drugstore called cystex that work pretty well. stay out of hot tubs!
