YOU WOULD KNOW IF IT WERE BROKEN. I sounds like it's just jammed or sprained. Even if it is broken, there is nothing they will do for you at the hospital, just rack up x-ray bills. Splint it yourself!!! ~~~

Your mom may very well be right.....it could just be jammed. 15 hours isn't too long for it to hurt under those circumstances, it might hurt pretty badly for 2 or 3 days. If it hurts that badly after 3 days it could be broken. But I can tell you from experience there's not a damned thing they can do for a broken toe other than wait for it to heal. They can't cast it. I've had numerous broken toes in my life. The first two times I went to the doctor. They x-rayed it, said "yes mam, your toe is broken". They then splinted it and taped it to the toe next to it so it wouldn't move. For THAT they charged me $75. After that when I hurt a toe bad enough to think it make be broken I took Popsicle sticks and medical tape and did it myself.
Sorry honey, I wish I had better news, but that's all I can say about it. I've been kinda "klutzy" most of my life, and over the years I've broken almost every toe I have, at least once. So I guess you could say I'm an expert on broken toes. It's a slow process, but it will get better. Just say off of it as much as you can for the next few days, take Advil for the pain, and see where you are then.

If it is the little toe, even if it is broken, there isn't much that can be done for it. However, if it is your big toe, you should get it checked out to make sure it isn't broken. I have jammed and broken little toes and the pain is similar. Is it swollen? If you press on the end of the toe (in towards the foot) does it cause a shooting pain? If so, it may be broken or sprained. Only an xray can tell.

Yes, it would hurt so long after. You are probably going to have to pop it straight out to get it un jammed. Besides, if it was broken, there is technically nothing the doctor can do for it.

I have had Jammed toes hurt for days. It would turn really dark purple and could barely move it. My parents did not take me to DR when those times happened. I'm 30 now...so no worse for wear...

A sore toe can take time to heal. Can you move it? If you can, chances are it is not broken. Parents may not be able to afford medical treatment if they think it is not an emergency.
Try using a bag of frozen vegetables (peas, corn, or other small vegetable that is freely moving in the bag) or a frozen waffle to ease the weight of the ice.
After 24 hours you can switch to warm compresses or soak your toe in warm water and epsom salt to reduce swelling and soothe it.
I think you will be fine.

It very well could be broken, but to be honest there is not much a doctor can do. It hurts like hell I know...just try to stay off it as much as possilble, you might need to go to the doctor for pain medication at least. But unless somthing is out of place...they won't really do much for you except give you pain medication and tell you to stay off it.

Even if your toe is broken there is nothing the doctor will do except tell you to stay off of it and prop your feet up. They don't splint toes!

If it is swollen and you can't move it, it could be broken, but if it just hurts, it is probably just jammed.
