It keeps tightening up just below the knee towards the end of football games. Any advice?

There's no muscle there. It's tendon between the patella (knee cap) and the bony bit on your tibia (shin). Anterior and posterior cruciate ligament (ACL and PCL) is IN your knee joint, and are not palpable. Medial and lateral collateral ligament (MCL and LCL) are on either side of your knee. The muscles above the patella are collectively referred as the quadraceps. Calves are the muscles on your lower leg. Hamstring are the ones behind your quadraceps.

See your doctor to rule out any sinister causes of knee pain.

There isn't a muscle there. Ligament's and tendons only. Stretch out better should help.
