I know we are probaby far far away from going back to old days of not having to show up at the airport 2+ hours in advance to catch our flights. Now I know this beefed up security is to make sure another 9/11 never happens again but has the security gone to far?? Whats your take??

As a frequent business traveler getting on planes several times a month, I would rather be slightly inconvenienced for a better sense of security.
Sitting in an airport for a couple of hours is not fun, but another 9/11 is much worse.

there is no way that airport security has gone too far, and unfortunately they probably will not go far enough before something terrible happens. look at it like this. the rules and regulations are there to try and protect us. just think about the endless things that they could do to ruin flights. somebody can bring a huge bag of whatever into the airport before they even reach the search point. it is just the price that we are going to have to pay.

Nope, I had a friend of the family that was on one of the 911 flights. I'm sure his family would do anything including strip naked if it would have kept him alive. It is massively inconvenient buts a whole lot better than the alternative! Although the though of a mom drinking her own breast milk is kinda...weird and creepy.

In Dec 01, I went to Indonesia and showed up at the airport with a glass bottled drink. They made me drink from the bottle, but it was a glass container. Instant weapon! Also, if you wear thin soled flip flops, they don't make you take them off. I think they don't know what they are doing.

Probably not since 911. My mother always said make sure you have on clean underclothes you never know what might happen. But when flying she did't tell me socks to darnit. last flight had to take off shoes and sock big hole in big toe!! red hair with red face. oh well :-)

It's not that they are doing too much, it's that they are doing a lot of dumb stuff. For instance, they put "SSSS" on your boarding pass, alterting you before you go through security that they will give you a "special treatment". If you had a weapon, you could give it to your friend.

TSA employees stealing valuables out of baggage and feeling up children certainly qualifies as "going too far"..

i dont think so. i think there is a few more things they can do to.. dont you want to be safe.. i do.. it should have been this way in 2001 when the planes were hijacked and maybe so many people wouldnt have lost there lives... think about it..
