residents who came from Pakistan -- hence why they may have almost gotten away with the plot yesterday. So here's my thought and tell me if you agree. We can't profile because profiling is wrong. If a person comes here from another country and becomes a citizen they won't be under much scrutiny. I wonder how many US citizens from terrorist nations have become citizens ONLY to be able to plot to hurt us somehow? How can you NOT think that way? This investigation probably went on for quite a while. They (terrorists) are patient people in order to do what they want to do - kill. I have a feeling we have many many among us right now and we don't know it. What do you think? We've been letting everyone in for years now.

A songwriter friend of mine once recognized (sometime in the mid 80's) the disproportionate number of owner/operators of corner gas station/convenience stores who are of middle eastern descent.

Just imagine the chaos if all the fuel in the large underground tanks of said gas stations were to be ignited simultaneously in a large scale coordinated attack.

Kind of makes you go hummm.....

according to media reports these people were British born! with Pakistani decent (i.e their parents or above generation moved and settled here) so they are the same as the attackers on our tube on 7/7.

Our forces have been tracking these suspects since December '05 but only pulled the plug on them now because the plot was very near fruition.

major misconception, and totally misquoted word is the word 'Terrorist' these people are not terrorists, they do not seek to terrorize people, they seek to kill (murder) people, so they should in fact be called murderers not terrorists.

Of course these people have been coming to both of our countries for years now (the UK allows more people/immigrants into its country than any other country per current head of population)

BUT, you cannot stop them from coming here because the minority are terrorists, that would simply breed more hatred against us. Only real way to stop them is to integrate them properly into our societies.

personal view, outlawing all religion would be good start, but then again, religion isn't the major factor in breeding terrorists, anger against a particular country for other reasons is the factor.

in short there is no answer to this dilemma that i can think off, kind of makes me glad i am not in charge of protecting this country, while maintaining the moral high ground

Yes, I agree with you. Many, many times in the UK,it has turned out that these people have been living here for years, and gained their "citizenship",in fact one of the 7/7 bombers was one, neighbours said he was a nice quiet person, and well liked. That's exactly what they do,lay low, make friends, live normal lives, get educated, don't draw attention to themselves, until they are called upon to do their deed! Its how they operate.I have no doubt, here in the UK,thanks to this incompetent Government of ours, that there are many, many, more,,just biding their time waiting to fulfil their thirst for killing. By the way,it is now 24 arrested, with another 4 suspects being hunted.

To me, it just sounds like another distraction to begin with. I am not saying there are not people plotting to do things such as this, but this new story sounds a bit fabricated to me. How convenient to get everyone's attention away from things you should probably be paying more attention to. Don't you ever notice that they come up with stories like this every few months to raise the fear level in everyone and keep their attention on "terrorism"? All of the stories you hear like this all sound eerily similar. In the meantime, people get anxious and are suspicious of everyone around them that seems even remotely "different" from the rest..

In the past, during the cold war, these 'resident terrorists' were called 'sleepers' and they could be resident, carrying on as normal every day citizens for years before becoming activated to carry out their allotted task(s).

There are terrorists here, it is a scary thought but you can't just assume they're all from the middle east. They are from every race, color, and national origin. That's what truly makes it scary because you just don't who they are. It could be your neighbor for all you know. There is just too much hate in the world right now!

No profiling is NOT right under any circumstances. I come from India and it just annoys the hell out of me when people say I'm a Muslim Fanatic or act like I am anyway. First of all, I was born in this country. Saying that people who come from arab countries are always terrorists (as you blatantly do, "I wonder how many US citizens from terrorist nations have become citizens ONLY to be able to plot to hurt us somehow?") Thinking like this is only helping the terrorists. They want to cause hate and damage and by profiling, you achieve both of these things. Second of all, I'm not Muslim, I'm Hindu. Third of all, not all Muslims are terrorists. More than 90% of Muslims are peace-loving, non radical people. Mohammed himself said that violence is wrong if you are not protecting yourself. Third of all, stereotyping by names is even worse. It pisses me off so much that every time I come home from abroad, I have to have a second check. Im A FREAKING US CITIZEN FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!! JUST BECAUSE I HAVE DARK SKIN, ASIAN ORIGINS, AND A NAME THAT SOUNDS MIDDLE EASTERN, DOESNT MEAN I'M A TERRORIST!!! Third of all, we are doing the terrorist's job for them. They want to destroy our daily routines and incite hate and violence. By delaying our airport times, hurting our airline economies and racially profiling (not to mention inconvienceing people like me and you), are we not inciting hate and making our daily lives full of fear? I am sick of this terrorist bullshit! It gets on my nerves!

Why don't you wait to find out if they were born and bred here first? The Tube-bombers were (although I suspect you don't know that happened and instead are as America-centric as you sound). Can't you just spend a few hours feeling sorry for Britain before you think to yourself 'how does it affect us?'. I mean obviously they were UK-US flights targetted, but then again - do you know why that is? I suspect you don't know that either.

EDIT: KarenS (below) - I just checked my facts after what you said and you're wrong - yes one of the 7/7 bombers was born in Jamaica, not the UK, but he moved here at 5months old and converted to Islam at 15. Are you still suggesting he was part of a 'sleeper cell'?

The fear that we can trust no-one is part of the terror the terrorists are trying to create.

They are nowhere near as numerous as they would like us to think.

I wouldn't worry about it. There simply cannot be as many psychopaths who want to kill in the world. They are an insignificant, if somewhat harmful, minority.
