You can have "normal" pain in early pregnancy for several reasons:
1. Implantation cramping around 7-14 days after conception
2. Pain or pulling sensations at either side of the belly as the uterus grows and ligaments are pulled
3. Mild menstrual-like cramps as the uterus expands
4. Abdominal pain due to gastric discomforts like gas and upset stomach
5. Abdominal pain or even pain towards your side or back due to constipation
Whenever you have SEVERE or sharp pains, esp. accompanied by bleeding or strange discharge, then you would be concerned and call your practioner right away. Pain when urinating or constant tenderness in the abdomen could also signal a urinary tract infection which is more common in pregnancy.
Hope this info is helpful.

I am 7weeks pregnant and for me my abdominal pain has been less than the cramps I would get before my period sometimes it is there for a few seconds sometime a min. or two and then some days I go almost the whole day without it at all and it has always been in my lower abdomen. These pains have not been severe or even enough to really call painful. And according to people here this is normal (but of course if its followed by bleeding or the pain is severe call your doctor)

Abdominal pain alert
Sometimes pain in your abdomen can have a more serious cause. Contact your midwife, doctor or maternity unit urgently if you have:
* Severe cramping in your lower abdomen in early pregnancy, lasting for several hours and not relieved by the usual comfort measures, with vaginal bleeding. This be the start of a miscarriage
* Severe pain on one side of your lower abdomen in early pregnancy, especially if it is accompanied by bleeding or brownish discharge from your vagina. This could indicate an ectopic pregnancy
* Severe pain in your lower abdomen, with or without bleeding, in later pregnancy. This could be a sign of a separating placenta
* Pain in your upper abdomen in later pregnancy, and/or a severe headache (that doesn't get better with paracetamol), and/or flashing lights or spots in front of your eyes, and/or you sickness or vomiting. All these may be signs of severe pre-eclampsia.

Not really.
I don't know to explain exactly where it aches, but let me try...
Have you ever felt a pain in the side of your body after running too fast or walking too much?
That's how i felt.
Similar to be punched, I guess
