Not the best option. You should be taking a medication to clear it up either oral or suppository. You'll be better off relying on pads to absorb the discharge from the medication and/or your menses.
There are medications that are supposed to work in only one dose. Ask your gyn.
Tampons absorb fluids and retain them. This could prolong your cure and even cause irritation.

Tampons can cause yeast infections because they prevent your vagina from cleaning itself as it would naturally, give yeast a pores area to grow upon, and chemicals within commercial tampons mess up vaginal PH, which in turn messes up vaginal balence of yeast and bacteria - thus why thrush and bacterial vaginosis are so common with tampon users.
You would be far better off getting yourself a menstrual cup or using cloth pads.

I'm assuming that it's okay, because I've never done it, but I can't imagine it would make it worse. But I wouldn't wear one while you've got the medicine in there, more just because I'd be afraid the tampon would soak it up.

I wouldn't do it. It might spread the infection further up your vaginal canal. Use a pad, and make sure you goto the doctor to treat your infection.
