If a girl is clingy and needy, what kind of behaviour patterns she exhibits for you to feel that she should back off? I sometimes miss my boyfriend so much.. if I tell him is it being needy? I am confused what is considered clingy, needy and possesive and what is considered to be loving and caring.. ? and when is it that you need space?

Being clingy and needy is out of selfishness not to fulfill a desire that your partner creates...continuing to call him with no real reason is an example of that behavior...needing reassurance that he cares, even when he clearly does is another...questioning why he needs to do things for himself without you and throwing a fit when he does is being possessive and selfish...If you love and care about another then you acknowledge the affection they do present and respect the choices they make that do not include you...one needs their own space when one knows being with you won't allow them to enjoy a particular function or event if you are with them...to clingy..suffocating...very good question...your willing to understand and hopefully learn how to express yourself better...good luck.

Clingy is defined by the relationship. If I have just met a girl I would find it clingy if she:
1.) Calls me by a nickname like buttercup or sweetums
2.) Calls all the time just to see what I am doing, and gets angry when I am too busy to talk
3.) Brings her stuff over to my house (specially woman stuff)
4.) Wants me to talk about my feelings
5.) Keeps checking my yahoo answers to see who I am talking to ;)

If I am married to this woman, she is too clingy if she:
1.) talks to me... we're married enough already ;)

A girl is needy is she tries to spend all of her free time with her boyfriend. If you are constantly trying to hang on him that is clingy. That's the way I understand it anyway.

We need "space" all the time. You are being to possesive if you call him several times when he is out with his friends. You are being "loving" if you call him 1 time to ask if he is ok and stuff. Simple common sense.
