After years of experience I have decided it is better to say as little as possible. Rather than lie and risk the chance of getting found out or exposed, I just say I have a personal appointment. If they ask what kind of personal appointment (and they had better not!), reiterate that it is personal and you would rather not say. They might wonder but will have nothing to catch you in.

Well, if you are taking time off to go on this interview, at this point you don't have much choice but to call in sick for tomorrow. After that, try to schedule interviews for times when they do not interfere with your current job. Once you do have a new job lined up and know when you will start, be sure to give your current job notice so they can find someone to replace you. Try not to lie to your current workplace, especially if they may be called as a reference.

If you lie and get caught you can be fired. Do you have any vacation time? If so, ask for 1/2 day off and don't add anything to the request...just 1/2 day off. If they ask just tell them you would rather not say. Only do this if there is a great chance they would give you the time off. If not, your sol!!

I wouldn't lie, just ask for the time off! You don't have to say why you are requesting the time off, and if you boss asks just say you have some personal business you need to take care of (not that it is any of their business and they shouldn't be asking anyways). Good luck with your interview!

Tell him you are visiting elderly relatives over the weekend and it's a long drive to get there, a 2 hour drive should do. Also tell him that there will be other relatives there too.

you do not favor to provide a reason - purely tell them you loved operating there and also you're taking exhilaration in the opportunties they gave you. in the adventure that they ask and also you "can't" get out of answering, tell them that you stumbled on a position that extra effective meets your occupation targets.

Why do you even need to say anything? Are you taking off work?

If you are, you can say you have a dentist appointment or something.
