My rabbit really likes to chew on my carpet. I know this is not good for her but I hate keeping her in her cage all the time. I have tried the "no" command and putting my hand between the carpet and her mouth, but that isn't working. I have read that rabbits don't like the smell of lavender and catnip. If I sprayed the carpet with a mixture of lavender oil and water, would that keep her from eating it? Or is there some better way of saving my carpet?

I have an indoor bunny too. He's not in a cage. He's litter trained. Is your bunny chewing a specific area of the carpet? If so, maybe you could put a mat down on top of it or move a piece of furniture on top of the area. Also, if she is chewing, its possible her teeth are growing and she's trying to trim them. Giver her a mineral block she can chew on (my bunny has one). You can pick one up from the pet store. Good luck!

Get a bottle of "bitter apple" from your vet. This is something I used to have to use with my dog when she was chewing. It just leaves a very bitter taste in their mouths. Chances are, it's safe for rabbits as well, but talk to your vet about it.

Rabbits will nibble, so try and distract her with something she CAN nibble on. When she starts to chew on the carpet, pick her up, tell her no, and place her infront of her chew things. You may end up putting a blanket down on the floor to limit her access to the carpet when she's out of the cage. Just make sure she doesn't chew on the blanket.

maybe try leaving chew toys arund her when she is out of the cage, or try keeping her in like a tiled or hard floor surface :) thats cute that she eats your carpet though :)

maybe you could just put some carrots or other treats out for her to chew...then she might lose interest in the carpet. :-/
