Why do people ask “silly” questions (not in this forum, but in general)? If I told you about a party, why would anyone ask: “Will they play good music?” Sure, although my idea of “good” might be completely different. Why even ask this type of question? Am I being closed-minded and picky?

No, I feel that way.

*sigh* We should start a support group or something...

Don't sweat the small stuff! Sometimes I make the same observation and then I have to remind myself not to respond in a negative way.

It is our problem if we let others upset us. That is the problem. You cannot control if someone is profound, silly, competent or incompetent. You can control how you respond. We choose what we let upset us.

Also, what is silly to you, may be of significance to the other person. As in the example you gave about music. Maybe that person needs music to help them enjoy parties. They may not have much else in common with people.

Maybe it's there way of starting a conversation with you but don't know what to say. So they think of the first thing that comes to mind. Yes your to closeminded and picky. Some people have a hard time talking with others, just be glad to know they wanted to talk to you.

Yes. Because somewhere someone is saying the same thing about questions you may have asked.

It's a vicious cycle...
