Nomar is a good player but is hurt way too much. Doesnt he play first, the same as Kent? I dont think they should resign him tho because the dodgers have a great minorleague system.

Although he is an injury-risk, I would like to have Nomar around for another season or two because he finally regaining that stroke that made him the batting champ he was back in Boston. The Dodgers needs to win now and Nomar can do that because he's more comfortable now playing in front of his hometown crowd and feeling less pressure by the team and fans. If I had to pick the Dodger MVP, it would have to be Nomar right now (no offense to Brad Penny). Add to the fact that James Loney is not ready to make an impact yet for the Dodger that they should stick with Nomar for the time being. I'm thinking that Nomar would give the team a "hometown" discount (he signs a short year deal to see if he can get bigger money in the future, like what Furcal did when he went to the Dodgers).

They all want a lot of money. Nomar is worth it, even with the injuries. Heck, if the Mariners could blow a cool million on Pokey Reese, who was injured in spring training and never played for them, surely anyone could take a chance on Nomar. As a Dodger-hater I would say no, because I want them to decline until they are below the level of Kansas City or Tampa Bay (hmmm...the Dodgers permanently below the Mendoza Line...what a delicious thought!), but practically speaking most teams could use him. Exceptions are the Steinbrenners, who have the talent there already, and teams like the Mariners, who have promising young players in the middle infield.
[Oh, forgot he doesn't play shortstop any more. But he is still worth it.]
So yes, the Dodgers should re-sign Nomar Garciaparra.

Yes, they need players like Nomar to build around for the future. And they need better pitching like everyone else does. Nomar apears to have a few good years left and based on this year so far, he looks like Comeback Player of the Year.

I suppose he should because he is from Southern California and that the Dodgers needed a good hitter. It would be a blow if he was to be traded and leave the team, which would have less offense. So I'm sure his contract can be expanded and that he can be a big help for the boys in blue.

keeping him here in LA is the best thing for him - they shouldn't sign him to a multi-year deal, though - make every year a contract year and watch how these guys produce - sign him for 1 year and then a club option for the 2nd and you'll always get the most out of a player
