I just got a Sony Ericsson W600i - the camera is amazingly clear, and has tonnes of cool functions. In general, Sony Ericssons are known for being more reliable than Kyocera, Motorola (why do you think their warranty program is so detailed? It's because they fall apart), LG, and in some cases, even Nokia (which is also known as reliable). You also might want to look on eBay for an unlocked phone if your service provider uses SIM cards. You can get some good deals there, and more choices than through your provider directly.
You can check the phone out here...

and I forgot to mention the best thing about Sony Ericsson - you can go to their website and download games, graphics, ringtunes, etc. for free!

Most of your signal comes from the network however for the best reception wise you can't put down Motorola, I wouldn't go with the razr cause it only picks up on digital signals and if you get stuck in the boonies and need help you won't get a signal. Most phones these days come with a plethera of options on them so it really matters what you want your phone to do, 10 years ago if you wanted a phone you had 2-3 options in them and the only difference was the design. Now-a-days there are cameras bluetooth, mp3 players, speakerphones and all sorts of different options so it really depends on your useage, the only thing else I'm going to add on to here is to stay away from kyocera's cause they tend to come with alot of problems.

The best phone I've ever seen is the Motorola V3X
http://shopping.yahoo.com/p:Motorola%20RAZR%20V3x%20Blue%20Cell%20Phone:1993133321
This phone has a 2 megapixel camera, BUT, it also has a VGA camera for viewing yourself.
If the person you speak to has theis phone, you can VIDEO CHAT as if you were using a webcam !
I bought one for $800 from a Korean website and I love it.
It features the rgular stuff too such as Bluetooth and Itunes.
The only dosnide is you need to eithe rbe on 3G or EDGE high speed network for video chat. Otherwise, it works just like the Razr V3i

You can buy Japanese cell phones at America now. Some cell phones stores cell it. Or you can buy it on e-bay, which by the way is cheaper and unlocked. Japanese cell phones are very good, the cameras are the best in the world and have LOTS of features. Vodafone is the main company of these cellphones...some Jp cell phones are:
-sharp 903
-sharp 703 SHf
-panasonic VS7, VS3, VS6
etc.

well i believe you want a phone which has cam and BT and a good screen and the usual... well i would readily suggest the nokia.. you can go for the nokia 6681 or 6630 or 3280... they have a 1.3 MP cam and comes with the advantage of application instalation... personally i would say 6681.. con i'm usin that... the clarity is stunning.. has a 1.3 MP cam, 256 K display and all the features including a fully automatic cam protection cover... and the battery life is also real long... trust me you wont regret it....
