I started wearing mascara in year 10 (aged 14), and eyeshadow in year 11, (aged 15).

I don't think there's anything wrong with wearing clear or pink-tinted lip gloss and a bit of mascara when you're 12 or 13, but eye shadow and lipgloss aren't really appropriate. The thing is, you're still a kid, and should revel in your natural youthfulness. Makeup can attract the wrong kind of attention.

If you do decide to wear some more makeup, wear mascara, and pale/natural colour eyeshadow and lipgloss. Make sure you only wear mascara to school, nothing more. Many schools actually have a rule about this. Please don't go for the orange foundation thing so common in youths - the Oompah Lumpah look is not a good one.

You don't need makeup anyway hon, I'm sure you're lovely as you are, but should you choose to wear it for fun/pleasure, just don't overdo it, and choose natural/flattering tones.

Everyone is different when it comes to makeup. I think if you have a really beautiful skin, you want to keep it that way, and for cleansing there is nothing better than Ivory soap and rinsing with lots of water to moisturize. I will tell you that I didn't start wearing makeup till I was in my forties [I know, I know, I'm old grandma here] and that was only on special occasions. I am 70 now and still have beautiful skin, so everyone thinks I'm a lot younger.
I DID wear lipstick when I was in Grade 7, and a light lip gloss is so attractive. And a bit of shadow on your eyes wouldn't hurt at all. But try and stay away from the violent colors - they're not attractive at any age. I have a bathroom full of stuff, cause I'm a makeup junky even though I hardly wear any. Less is best.
But I do treat my skin with the utmost care. After all, this is the only face I'll have and I don't believe in cosmetic surgery.

My mum didn't let me wear makeup while I was in school. So we're talking up to the age of 17!! I am also one of those unfortunate people that barely have any colour in my face. Once I started wearing makeup, everything changed. And all I'm talking about is a little bit of nude lipstick, bit of blush and mascara. But because it looked completely natural, noone knew that I was wearing it. It improved my looks by 100%, and I WISH I had discovered makeup a lot earlier.
That said, most people have got colour in their lips and cheeks, and certainly most teenagers don't need makeup. Certainly not foundation, if you have clear skin it's pointless putting a mask on, and if you have pimples, it just accentuates it even more and clogs your pores in the process.
Most adult women don't step out of the house without makeup. Once you start wearing makeup, it's hard to go back.
If you want to wear makeup to feel more like a woman, hold it. Stop right there. You'll get there fast enough, trust me.
If , on the other hand you are like me and as one of my friends so delicately put ' You know, Sal's only really looks good when she's wearing makeup" then go for it - no use suffering if you can improve your looks. So, there's my 2 cents, hope you made sense out of it.

In 7th grade, lip gloss is fine, but anything more than that does not look good. I remember when I was in 8th grade girls started wearing more make up to school and I thought that I was ridiculous for not wearing any. Now that I look back, they were the ridiculous ones. They would pile on the foundation that didn't even match their skin and put globs of eye shadow on. My point is is that don't sacrifice who you are to fit in with everyone else. Lip gloss and maybe a little bit of eye shadow is ok, but do not go further than that or you'll regret it in the long run. I just recently started wearing foundation and I'm fixing to turn 21. I am so grateful for that because I have wonderful, healthy skin because I didn't wear a lot of make up when I was younger. Just don't fall into the trap of having to wear make up so young. Enjoy your age and don't be in a hurry to grow up; I promise it will happen faster than you want it to.

There isn't exactly a RIGHT or WRONG age to start wearing make up. Everyone have different opinions. I started when I was 8. It just happens that I was a GIRL and LOVE make up, shiny things and so on. But I would want my daughter to start much later than me then to make the same mistake as me.

Anyway, It's OKAY! You're alright. It's normal for girls to get attracted to make up at whatever age. It's just a matter of time. Some, like me get attracted at like 8, others can be at 13, 18 or even 40! It's just how long the person matures. :)

Why don't you try a little lip gloss and eyeshadow first, of cos ask your parents, and if they allow, try a bit of your mom's. And if you like it, ask if you can get a few to apply, or ask her to teach you how to apply. But don't over put or get too carried away. Just use make up to enhance your beauty okay sweets?

And if you do like make up and are wondering what to buy, I would recommend Maybelline. Because that is what I've been using since 8. It's light and simple. And it isn't very expensive. Just what would be right for you. So you can buy it and use it yourself! :D

There's nothing wrong with you, it happens to most girls, my obsession was with nailpolish. I didn't start to wear makeup until I was just out of eigth grade and getting into high school. If you really want to start wearing makeup, start light...like with a little lip gloss and a slight eye shimmer. Make sure that your parents don't mind, trust me they know what is best as far as makeup goes, mainly because they know what looks good on you and they don't have any outside pressure. One last tip, don't go overboard on the makeup, nothing screams tacky (or in some cases slutty) like too much makeup on a thirteen year old girl.

16 or 17 I think because otherwise it looks out of place on a very young face. Lip gloss is cool and maybe some mascara - but practise this at home first - you dont want to look like panda. Leave eyeshadow for the time being. Being well groomed is more important than make up - nice clean hair, nice clean nails and nice clean you - don't get me wrong i am not saying you're not just putting things in right order. Good luck

I was in the 8th grade when I started wearing make-up, but only a little lip gloss and mascara. As time went on I was able to wear more. I think the less you wear the better when you are that young, why look beyond your age. You will get there fast enough.

You are at just the perfect age when most young girls want to start wearing makeup.

Just don't over-do it. Don't use loud, brash colors, keep it pale and to a minimum. You do not need foundation and you are still too young for it anyway.

Lip gloss is fine and so is mascara. If you use shadow, use a pale shade and not very much.

Unless you are going to be on camera, the best makeup is under done, not over done.

Good luck.

I was in 6th grade when I started wearing make-up.
Not like a ton, but just a gloss and a little bit of mascara.
Girls should start wearing make-up when the enter high-school or during middle-school.
Some girls think that make-up will get them noticed.
It becomes addicting. You soon can't go out of the house without a lipgloss in your pocket.
It is very normal for you to want to wear make-up.
It makes you feel older and more prettier.
Some people just like it.
