ROMANIA's greatest achievement came during the 1994 FIFA World Cup when they qualify to the quarter-final. they beat ARGENTINA in the round of 16 but they lost to SWEDEN on penalties.
many players make up their golden generation such as Gheorghe Hagi, Dan Petrescu, Florin Radiciuou, Gheorghe Popescu, Ilie Dumitrescu, Marius Lacatus & Florin Prunea.
their performance is slowly declined as many of them has already retired from international football. the 2000 UEFA European Championship finals was their last major finals appearance.
